New company registrations in Portugal increase

The number of new companies registering in Portugal in Q2 2022 grew at a healthy 7%, which compares with a 1.2% decline across the rest of Europe.

Portugal came only second to Romania, which saw a whopping 22% increase. Lithuania dropped by 8.8% and Denmark by 5.9%.

EU declarations of bankruptcies increased by 2.2%, with ironically Portugal’s bankruptcies increasing by nearly 8%.

Figures couresty of Eurostat which said “…for most sectors of the economy the number of registrations of new businesses was generally on an upward trend from 2015 until end of 2019, for example in industry, construction, transport, accommodation and food services, financial and insurance activities, information and communication.”
